Connect your dsl modem to a wireless router

First make adsl modem to dial (ppoe) i hope you know how to do that, if not i’ll explain that later…enable dhcp in the adsl modem(i think its enabled by default, just cross-check)…
Then connect your linksys router to any pc to configure it, go to the login page(192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 depending on your router) type user name and password(i think its admin/admin or admin/password or admin/(blank)).. there make sure you disable dhcp and set to bridged mode(not dialed mode cause adsl modem is doing the dialing)…Thats it for the configuration..
Then connect your adsl modem to the first LAN port of the linksys router..make sure you connect it to the LAN port and not the WAN port.. the WAN port will be seperated from the LAN ports, so you should be able to make out the difference..Then connect other pcs to the other LAN ports of your linksys router…
THe wireless configuration is standard, just like any other router.. set the SSID and better set a good WEP key.. and choose a channel like 6 or 11.. and you should be good to go!!All the best!!!!

im sure everybody would have viewed atleast one video in youtube.. its that famous.. and many would have wanted to download them too.. so here’s a simple way to do so, there are many ways to do it.. this is just another way!!!
Go to http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/ and place the youtube link there and it will give you a download link. it will be in .flv format.. use vlc media player or any other compatible video player to view the video

If there is one good australian cricket i can think of,that would definetly be Adam Gilchrist, he is such a great cricketer and most of all such a good human being, he is the only cricketer who plays the game in the true spirit,If you notice he is the only player who walks out as soon as he is out, he never waits for the umpire’s decision,He is such a good batsmen and a good wicket keeper.He had retired from test cricket a few days ago,I wish him the best!!!

There are many such softwares available, but the best that i have seen is pidgin, it is a wonderful piece of software which supports multiple platforms and has support for various chat services like yahoo,msn,gtalk,rediffbol,aim,icq etc etc..It has a great user interface and very easy to understand and configure.. you can download the software from www.pidgin.im its a very handy tool as it does not use much of the system resources,it is a very light program and you dont have to have a seperate yahoo messenger,msn messenger,google talk,AIM etc etc, its all in one!!!

Well there are many ways to do it , one such way is to use content management software like Drupal or Joomla, there are many others these are just a few, they are free too!!They provide a lot of features like user management,content management,blogging,administration,community features etc..

It’s great that Vijay Mallya has taken the initiative to get india a formula one team,but hey it says “FORCE INDIA” but i dont see any indians, if the team name is the country’s name then we should have people from the country,and from what i know this current force india team,ain’t that good,they were part of another team earlier and used to come last in almost every race..I just hope it doesn’t spoil the name of the country, i dont know if we are ready yet.. I just hope we do well and WIN..ALL THE BEST TO THE FORCE INDIA TEAM!!!

Valentines day is coming infact it is valentines day.. Many of us would be sending valentine greetings… This is a very good time for viruses to spread too.. a lot of trojans can be found under fake greetings. .so be careful.. if you get a valentine greeting in your email with an attachment which is a .exe file please do not open it .. it will most likely be a virus..Trojans are really dangerous and can be very harmful to your computer.. so be careful while opening your emails!!!

web 2.0 and AJAX

I think two of the most latest developments in the software sector especially internet based is web 2.0 and AJAX..
Web 2.0 is definetly the future.. it has a lot of potential and is growing … Many websites have already shifted to web 2.0.. it makes the website more effecient and interactive… One of the best features of web 2.0 is it allows you to run softwares on a web browser.. thats how the concept of WebOS was born…Web 2.0 is also being brought about in blogs,news,wikis,RSS etc..
AJAX is a type of programming hugely appreciated and used by GOOGLE..the gmail chat window you find in your gmail inbox page is an example off AJAX.. it has great potential and many web developers are using it.. It makes your webpage more interactive and also more quicker.. as if any value has to be updated the whole webpage need not refresh ,only that part of the webpage would refresh.. saving a lot of time and bandwidth..AJAX which is based on javascript and xml is widely used and will soon replace many other old programming techniques…

Raj Thackeray, SP leader Azmi arrested

This just came in police today arrested Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray on charges of promoting enmity between groups and inciting violence.
Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, who faces similar charges, was also taken into custody.
Im so glad that the government is taking such a bold step.. it can be observed in many other situations.. Police have started raiding police constables’ houses and have suspended those who have illegal plots,black money etc etc…The government is fighting against corruption..even though its slow its happening…and Im so glad it is!!!

how good are your teachers?

I wanted to write about this since a long time but whenever i start blogging i forget about this topic.. Luckily i remember now so here goes!!!

I’m sure everybody has been to some school or college sometime or maybe many are in school or college now…And we all know that teachers play a VERY important role in a student’s life..I remember all my teachers very well.. So many of them we so good i still do keep in touch with them.. they take so good care of you that you feel like coming to school or college..They know you so well ,they recognize you wherever you are.. they care for you..they keep in touch with you…they guide you..they understand your problems…they talk to you…
Im sure you would have come across atleast one teacher who had the above qualities..All i want to mention is that this is the type of teachers the society requires… and especially small children in the primary section require.. it is very important to have good teachers at that age.. A teacher should not be judged only based on the subject ,he/she should be also judged based on his/her character ..his/her communication and concern for the student…
Now i come to the second part,i am sure everybody would have come across teachers who dont teach well,who don’t care about you, who just come do their job and go,they don’t know you at all,they dont support you,they dont talk to you,they dont want to understand your problems,they dont want to encourage you…
So there are these two kinds of teacheers…And if students have more of the second type who dont care for you at all.. it affects the student’s life drastically.. suppose for example there is a student who has a lot of family problems and is mentally disturbed and this guy goes to school or college and cannot concentrate because he is worried about his family situation.. Im sure it happens to all of us.. we cannot concentrate in whatever we are doing if we are mentally disturbed with some major problem… and what if a teacher who doesnt know anything about the student sees this guy who is not writing notes for example or is doing badly in his tests.. the teachers shouts at the student,punishes him/her,assaults him and what not.. Dont you think the mental state of the student will go havoc..he could even commit suicide or take drugs etc etc…But what if the teacher is like the first type who is considerate and who understands the student and who tries to help him and console him…Wont that student be better off.. wont he recover.. wont he start doing well.. Im sure he will…Thats why i say Teachers play a very important role in a student’s life not just in education but in LIFE…
I too have come across both types of teachers.. i had a teacher who considers her students as her children.. she knew each one of us personally and always used to talk to us etc …just like the first type.. i had another teacher who always used to give us sweets or pens for whatever good we did…All these are my wonderful memories of my school life..
And i hope that teachers who have such a big responsibility on students be more responsible and just like the first type i mentioned above.. then we could have better children and a better future for our country!!!
